It depends on what option package you get.

Lariats are pretty much middle of the bunch trucks now. Used to be the top of the line but really it is todays XLT.

I got everything I wanted in the Lariat and it's 6 or 7 grand cheaper than a similarly optioned Platinum that

makes you buy extra options (in my case that I didn't want.

Aftermarket stereo equipment kicks factory-installed craps butt anyway (even Sony ) and is cheaper.......I wouldn't buy an "upgraded" system from factory

How well do aftermarket units play with factory units as far as the handsfree use and also incorporating telephone steering wheel controls?

Given that I'm not an 18 year old boom box carrier the upgraded Sony, which is included in Equipment Group 502A, is more than satisfactory to me. It sounds much better than the after market system including 6 speakers I installed in my Tahoe last year. There is no way I would start pulling doors and trim off a brand new truck to upgrade a stereo and integrate all the electronics. And if you think you can pay a professional for installation add in the hardware, wiring harnesses etc and be anywhere near the Ford price you are wrong.
