2013 F-150 TARNSFER CASE GROAN

My son has a 2013 F-150 XLT with the 5.0 engine. When he turns off the traction control and the stabilitrac and all of the other "Safety" features for spinning wheels etc... when the rear wheels spin and you can hear and feel the limited slip working, he gets a groaning noise from what sounds like the transfer case. He just had it at the dealer and a mechanic rode through the parking lot where there was a little bit of ice and the mechanic heard it. He stated he did not know what it was, but that it was not normal. They tried to make the truck do the noise and said they did not have the proper conditions to simulate the noise again. The reset the modules etc...but told him to come back when we had bad weather again. Is there anybody out there in cyber land who live in the north who has snow and ice more than a day or 2 that this has happened to? The dealer said they won't replace parts until there is a TSB on the issue. Is there a regional Ford rep who travels to dealers to help resolve issues like this? This young man is 23 years old and bought a $42,000 truck and they want to treat him like this. Has any one else had this problem and if so, was the problem diagnosed and fixed? What fixed the problem. We've been Ford people forever (I'm 53 and have always had fords in the driveway, my parents are 77 and always had Fords in the driveway) I hate this new technology where everything is computer operated. Thanks to anyone who can help with this issue.

My 2011 XLT Offroad with the 5.0 does this too. It's done it since it was new. It's not very loud, though.

It definitely doesn't seem normal but my 4x4 works fine and I've had trouble getting the dealerships around here to do anything unless something is actually broken.

I hope you're able to get it resolved.

How many miles are on your son's truck, FOWL1? I'll see what I can do to help.

Let me know if you decide to get this addressed at your dealership, ebexp94. Once you've had it diagnosed, I'll be able to look into some options to assist.
