I will contact the insurance as soon as I get results of what was put in the tank. Only problem with reporting it to insurance is the fact that I have fixed the truck at ford. So they can't see the damage. Even though I have pictures and sample of the contaminate. But we will see what happens one step at a time.
Long story short, the dealership denied it and my insurance company paid the claim.

I got the results back from Black Stone Labs and here is their answer:
JOHN: Not much turned up in the spectral tes of the ylowish liqud tha separted out from this ample of
DEF, so the substance isn't engie oil, transmison fluid, or anything like tha -those fluids would have
more aditves. Based on the low spectral eadings, the physical propert is, and the flashpoint of 170°F, we
conclude tha the foreign substance is diesl fuel.
They are saying diesel fuel. Since that is the case I have a problem because if it were me that would mean that I had to put in a gallon or so then put the switch tank and put diesel in the diesel tank. That didn't happen. So now I really confused as to how it got there. I did get the locking door and my son came out in the biting cold and installed it last night. So I can keep a lock on the door.

Just a guess though.

How many miles were on it when you bought it? Seems to me that the only logical explanation was that the previous owner did it. I believe diesel will float on top of the DEF and not come into contact with the pump until the tank gets low. Perhaps it took a couple years to contact the pump and the bottom of the tank enough to cause a failure.
Just a guess though.
