Hello all. My son and I just took ownership of a 64 F100 2wd. He is currently serving in the US Navy and is stationed in San Diego. When he is done with his hitch this fall the truck will come back to Michigan and we will resotore it to as close to original as possible with the exception of safety upgrades to the brakes.

He drove it from LA to San Diego a couple weeks ago. On the way home the battery went dead and he had to put in a new voltage regulator in the Autozone parking lot. The rest of the trip went pretty smoothly but the old girl needs some love. It will make a nice grocery getter for him till he comes home. We believe it to be a custom cab long wheel base style side with a 262 standard 3 speed with a 3.90 axle. I have checked most of the vin and warranty plate info but would like the "pros" here to decode it for us.

vin - F10BR542941

warranty plate:

128 J F100 E81 A 12
5000 132 3600 71

Nice looking project. My '64 CC has a similar dent in the front passenger side fender and is about the only major dent on the truck...like yours..

A = Ford type 3.03 3 Speed Manual all Syncromesh Transmission.

12 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.89-1 / 3,300 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

I thank your son for his service. San Diego has been known as a "Navy town" for over 100 years, but it's a lot different today than it was between 1900/1980.

USN/USMC vets that served in WWI & WWII, Korea & Vietnam would barely recognize the "town" today.
