1950 F3 rear tranny insulator

Rear transmission insulator missing the cover plate Ford part number 5101.

I have removed everything on the frame except the rear tranny insulator under the cross member so I can POR-15 the frame. The insulator looks to be in good shape. Should I replace it? If so, is there any secret to get it out? There appears to be no iron plate that attaches with 6 bolts to the cross member. I think it is Ford part number 5101. Do I need one? I went to Green Sales and they have none. I have not tried other sources. If I can not find one, can I fabricate a plate, drill 6 holes to match the ones in the cross member, and paint it before installing?

It wedges up into the cross member. I pried mine out and re installed it after inspection.

You should be able to pry the mount out of the crossmember with the bottom plate off. I may have an extra bottom plate, I will have to look.

I see no problem making the plate. I believe we have site problems.

We sure do! I replied, now it's gone. I have a plate too.

Oh I see, there are two threads?

I took Mark up on his offer of a plate. Thanks Mark. I will now try and get the insulator out.

Try calling Dennis Carpenter with the part number. I believe that is where I got mine this past summer. It won't be in their catalog, but he keeps a supply of NOS parts that are only available by phone. The stock is constantly changing. Good Luck!
