Hey everyone!
My name is Andrew and I just wanted to say hello. I am a longtime lurker turned member, I am not new to Ford Trucks though. My first truck was an 87 F250 with 6.9 IDI, the second was a 2001 Excursion 7.3L, and the newest and most current one is a 1976 F250 Highboy with a 429 and 4speed. I just got the 76 about a week and a half ago from a guy in Salinas. I needed something bigger than my S10 for work. I found it on Craigslist, called the guy up and my buddy and I made the 100 mile trek down there. When we showed up I realized that I had found something very cool and very special. The truck is still wearing the original green paint, still has the green velour seat and save for a few small dings is extremely straight. I popped up the hood to see what we had and the motor looked huge. When I opened the drivers door I found a very old CA BAR label stating that the engine is a 1969 429. After running the casting numbers I found out that it a 429 Thunderjet with 10.5:1 compression and 360hp from the factory. After some more checking we came across the front end which is a Dana 44HD with discs and powersteering and the truck had just recently been lifted with a SKyjacker 4" lift. Needless to say I bought it and drove it home.
