Exhaust Manifold Paint

Eastwood or VHT?

VHT is good for up to 2000 degrees and is in stock at Summit.

Eastwood is good for up to 1200 degrees.

Can Eastwood be bought locally, or is it mail order only?

Shadow:
Eastwood is only available thru Eastwood (online or catalog). I have used both and both hold up well without burning off. I tend to like the Eastwood better to the point, where I'll order it and wait rather than buy the VHT locally. I just prefer the look of the Eastwood and their paints have really good solids content and go on well with good coverage. I've had very good results with all the Eastwood paints....opinion of course. I don't think the difference in temperature rating is a significant issue.

Neither. Get Calyx Manifold Dressing from Eastwood. It won't burn off like paint will and it looks more natural. Plus it can be touched up easily if ever needed. The manifolds on the '65 C10 I finished 3.5 years ago still looks great.

I've tried Calyx on a couple sets of manifolds and didn't care for it. Even sandblasted the manifolds prior to applying it. I know a lot of people swear by it and have a friend that loves it, but it didn't work well for me. I found that "touching" it up...it didn't look uniform, but mostly I didn't like that it left grey (graphite) on my arms, hands and sleeves whenever I would touch it working around the engine. The manifold paints mentioned did not burn off and had a cleaner/uniform look to them, with less maintenance than Calyx. One would have to try it for themselves, though, to decide which they liked best. The Calyx is not very expensive, and a little goes a long way.
