I do not know your particular situation.

However when these folks give up it's typically because they do not feel the OP is doing as they ask in the order they ask as well as using their own brain doing their own thing confusing the situation, that makes it very hard to keep track of what is actually being done and they get frustrated ...

They are volunteers!

I do try to stay on track. As a teenager, back in the dim mists of time, I worked on my vehicles, and understood them. I could give a detailed explanation as to how and why things worked.

Carburetors, distributors . . . all the mysteries revealed.

Then I turned my attention to woodworking, and I pretty much have a death-grip on that body of knowledge, even if I DO say so myself.

Unfortunately for me, while the last great advance in woodworking technology was the invention of the panel door (discounting the effects of the science of chemistry), automotive engineering has leaped into the space age while I was not paying attention!

This is a good thing, on balance.

We now expect our vehicles to develop close to 1HP/Cubic Inch without really breaking a sweat, and deliver 25 to 30 MPG while they're at it.

Not only that, but we assume our cars will go 300,000 miles, and save our lives from high-speed crashes.

All this to say that I may be ignorant of the present state of automotive technology, but I am not incapable of learning.

I am also VERY motivated to fix this truck.

Thanks again for your wishes of peace, good sir, and I hope you will reap the fruits of that gesture 3-fold.

I don't enjoy wood as much as metal, though I've done a lot of nice stuff in my day with wood, even to the point the local cabinet shop has had a standing offer for almost 10 years to hire me ... He's seen my house and workmanship!
