From what I have read, I'm not hot on the terrain management crap. Torque on demand transfer case. That sounds like an all wheel drive system to me. Between that and the electronics I don't care for I won't care to own one.

I don't see the benefit of triple OD. A low first gear would be a benefit for heavy towing since iirc these are going to be used in the super duty class. I could see a 0.59:1 OD.

There is no doubt the Ecoboost will make the truck perform better. Lower center of gravity and more power and torque. And that's fine from a performance perspective, but the real purpose of the raptor is to be a "big boy toy" and it seems appropriate that such a toy should have a rowdy engine. I have an EcoBoost in my F150 and it is a great engine but the noises won't bring a smile to your face. Raptor really needs a rowdy V8 to make the experience complete.

Will a V8 be an option at least?

I doubt it. Ford has dropped the 6.2L for the 1/2 tons and the 5.0 makes less power than the EB.

Crying fin shame.

Took a fine off road vehicle with a V-8 and turned it into just another mall cruiser with a turboed weed eater motor.

Rice burner honda with bigger wheels.

Bet the truck even comes equipped with fake V-8 big boy sound!

Get the mall rated stickers out!

So i guess the fact that the ecoboost will have more power than the 6.2 that came in the first generation raptor makes it a worse engine.

Yeah! bring back the flathead

You could always spend the 60k on an older V8 and have a pretty great truck. With all the regulations, standards, and lawsuits today, that Ford is willing to produce this truck at all is amazing to me. This vehicle will likely be an absolutely incredible truck with even better off road performance than anything they have ever produced in the past. I would buy one in a minute if I could justify it.

To get your head around this; my modest econobox Focus has a weed eater 4 cylinder in it and with a few exceptions, over 40 mph, it will eat up the V8 cars and trucks made just ten years ago like so much sushi.

I love a big V8 as much as anyone. I grew up building them and racing them but time and tech moves on.

That poor puny little 3.5L sure takes a lot of crap from people who haven't taken the time to study how sturdy it's built.

So fricken what of it doesn't sound like a V-8. It sure as hell acts like a big V-8.

That little 3.5 sure can haul heavy loads without much fuss compared to any V8 I ever owned. The ONLY thing I miss is the V8 exhaust note, but I don't ever see myself going back to a non turbo pickup again. It's either the Ecoboost or a Powerstroke in a Superduty.
