New member intro., Crew Cab

Well I was going to post a pic of my "new to me" 1973 Ford F250 crew cab BUT apparently I am not allowed to. (how many post do you need to post pics as a new member?)
Anyway I just picked up my first dentside. I was actually looking for a Supercab when I stumbled on this crew cab on Craigslist. I drove it 2 hrs home on Wed. and it did great. It is a little rougher than it was described but nothing that can't be fixed. It was a farm truck most of it's life and only has 90K miles. Good solid frame and cab. Needs front doors, fenders and bed patch panels and of course the roof has some rust through but not too bad.
I got lucky today and a guy saw it sitting at my place of business and asked if it was for sale and said no. We got talking and he has several dentside parts trucks and a barn full of parts. I made a smoking hot deal on 2 doors, 2 fenders, side trim, grill, grill insert, tailgate and misc. parts. And I gained a new friend who loves these trucks.
I am going to totally restore it but not until next summer. I have 2 projects in the garage that need to be finished first.
I look forward to being an active member on here and I guess I will have to see what I have to do to post pics.

Can't remember what the minimum post amount is for doing pictures. Just use the search feature for projects/ideas you want to do to the truck and give your opinion at the end of the thread, your posts will add up quick.

What part of the country are you in?

Suggest reading the entire Crew Cab Only thread and doing so with a notebook so you can write down the facts/technical information while you go through the thread. There's a lot of good information such as interchange for the rear door pull straps and that the windows in the rear doors are the same as the fronts etc etc etc

Congrats on the purchase, always glad to see another get saved.

Welcome martyanderson from Tn. I think you can upload pic with photo bucket? But being a paying member on FTE has all kinds so of perks, like easy pic upload and NO pop up add BS and Pm ability, and bigger save messages ect....

Yes cruise by the 73-79 crew cab only section https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...ly-thread.html and just copy and past info you want to save in a doc folder on you computer, tablet or I-pad.

Oldfordjunkie what is a notebook and writing? Oh you mean with a pencil or pen, that is old school? lol JK And you know you can put your mouse pointer on a members name and get a drop down with all kinds of info off there profile....notice I said marty from Tn.

I'm not computer guy! I don't even know what a "doc folder" is but I can spin wrenches.
Took me a year and a half to get the Photobucket picture deal figured out but now I try to cram as many pictures in my build thread as possible because we all love truck ****.

Seems there is Crew Cabs coming out of the wood work, I routinely tell people that Crews are NOT rare but finding a buyer who's willing to actually look for one, travel to get it, do the work or actually pay the money is what's rare.

If there's anything I can help out with let me know.

Congrats and welcome martyanderson10

Sounds like you got the real hook-up on getting a classic, some replacement parts and a connection! I look forward to seeing some pictures of your project.

I didn't know you had to PAY for all usage of this forum. That is a first for me, I am a member af over half a dozen really active forums and I have NEVER had to pay. I thought the revenue from forums came from advertisers. Can I post pictures inline from photobucket without paying? I am opposed to paying just on principle.

You do not HAVE to pay to get the stock version of FTE.

So enjoy the pop up adds...lol Yes I hear that photo bucket will work, if you can figure that stuff out.

Actually I would like to know what I could use for door straps. I just did a search in the crew cab thread and I didn't find anything. Would you mind telling me what I could use since I can't seem to find it.

"Door straps", you are taking for the rear doors? Door pulls not limit straps, right? I have as set, or 2. Work on your post count (25) and then PM me about them if interested.

Yes, I sale a few parts on here. Trading Feedback - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

Do you see the blue line with User CP, Albums, FAQ? See the SEARCH on that line?
It has a drop down search menu arrow, go to the "Advanced Search" option, top left side (search block) type in there what you are looking for and then go to the lower right column and highlight 73-79 forum. Select it and then you will have a detailed search just in the 73-79 forums.

I would have to try and find it again, as my advise for using a note pad while going through the VERY long thread stems from me not doing so.... If I ever gat a few free days (hahahha) I'll have to go through it again.

For the most part they interchange with some of the 70s full size cars.

They may be referred to as "door pulls" so that may be why you didn't find them, I'll see if I can dig it up.

I found some at Auto Zone online that look identical in black only but I can dye them. I just have to measure the distance between the mounting holes on my back doors. Only $7.99 each

I have read that the 1970's Lincoln cars used the same pull straps on the doors. I assume its the two door model Lincolns. Might be worth checking out.
