Am I right to assume that your moving down to the
lower 48 soon? If so I hope ya can keep the Alaska
plate on Old George. I think it would get a lot of feed
back for ya. Your doing a great job on your truck being
hindered by your location. Maybe not as remote as I am
but still more of a challenge than most on this forum realize.
Koodo's to ya for that. Is Koodo even a word? Spell check
don't like it at all.

Thanks or the kinds words my Arctic Brother. I know you're more isolated than me, but yeah it's a challenge. Napa is our best "parts" store, and shipping cost as much if not more than an item in a catalog at times.
I am in fact moving to America (Montana) this spring/summer. Maybe I can actually meet another FTE member once I'm there! Too bad we didn't get a chance to meet. You should fill up your gallery with some more photos, I'd love to see them. And I appreciate you educating everyone about how to post them. Everyone loves eye candy.

Thanks Dan! In a week or 2 I plan on doing a detailed tutorial on the anti-rattle kit. I have a few more pictures and some more details I can ad, but I'll start a new thread for it. I'll likely post a link in here if you want to find it easier down the road. It was a project that I wasn't looking forward to at all, but one door is done and it wasn't all bad. I need to finish up that whole side with door seals and mirror before I flip it around and start on the other side. It's a little tight in the garage right now, but I can't complain; at least I'm not out in -40 laying in the snow...... Front and back glass should be in tomorrow as well.

I forgot to mention that the plate I have in my signature is actually one I found in Big George. Old George came from AZ in 2000 and was never titled up here until I got him. I have on the yellow historical plates, but they're new..... This is the plate from AZ:
Anyone else have one they'd like to share? Might be a good idea for a thread (unless it's already been done).

Well work took me away for about a month, but I did get a few things done before I left. The glass went in like a dream with Dennis Carpenter rubber bought from Classic Haulers:
Installing the rope. I would have done it myself if I knew just how easy it was....
Back goes in from the inside out.
Just push lightly on the area that the rope is being pulled through and take your time. The one piece gaskets were great!
Nice and clean, and it looks good.
We also got the rubber most of the way around the driver's door installed:
For the life of me I can't remember where I bought this weather stripping but it seems to work and fit very well.
All the hardware to hold it in place. I think I stole some off my donor truck because I have enough for 4 doors..... I'll probably give what I don't use away in the near future.
I found these numbers on the inside of the door near the cab........
This glue works great, but is a little runny.
Tape it in place
Install the clips
Work fast!
Didn't like the way this looked with the clip installed so I took it off to let it dry in place.
That looks better.
Shut the door and let it dry for a day.
Looks pretty good and the door closes as it should.
It might be pushed out just a hair on top.
The gap closes up towards the bottom. All in all I'm very happy with it.

Well, I went and did it................ I picked up a T5!
It's out of an 85 s10 w/ V6
I picked it up from a guy that works at a gear shop here in town. $150 for the trans and another $150 to go through it. He installed a bearing kit, so I hope it'll last as long as me.
I started ordering parts such as an adapter plate from the infamous Dwight Bond, and an 11" disc from a mid 80's Astro van to match my 11" pressure plate. I started a thread that I plan on being a start to finish type of thread. If you'd like to follow along and laugh at (I mean learn from) all my mistakes click on this link:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...to-finish.html
Any of you guys that know what is what with the T5 install are more than welcome to chime in, and those that aren't, well you can chime in too.
I also posted a pictorial on the vent window and anti rattle install if you're interested. I'm sure I've already posted most of the same pictures in here, but here it is anyway: Who doesn't like pictures???
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...w-install.html
I'm super excited to get the T5 in, and really need it done by June so I can actually drive it onto the trailer that will take him out of here. It will be my daily driver in Montana. Any of you Canadians that live near the highway that want to meet Old George, just let me know and we'll try to make a pit stop on our way south, A.
Have a great week!
Gotta love it!

Hope to see you there Doug! There seems to be quite a few FTE members in MT, it'd be great if we could meet at a car show or something. We'll get Tinman to bring his COE.
Back to the thread: We had some good progress this week that I have already documented in my T5 install thread, but I'll double post some photos here too. I think the internet is big enough to handle a couple more shots.
I received the adapter plate from Dwight Bond this week along with a pilot bushing. $185 total to get it shipped here (great deal, and a quality product I must say).
I mocked things up a bit to see what was what:
Notice the holes for my hub not lining up. It's drilled for a different hub, but it all worked out after I honed them out.
Honing:
That's better!
I had a little trouble getting the plate attached to the trans, and wrestled with the mount as well (see further details in the T5 thread if interested)
Trans mount complete
Got it all put together and now I just need the pilot bushing and the new throwout bearing pressed as well as the flywheel machined to match my clutch disc:
Old throwout bearing
A good friend of mine who recently started welding made up a very nice bracket for the new trans to mount too:
The kids killed the rust for me so I could get it primed and painted:
It turned out great, thanks for the help Jabba! He'll be bringing the welder over so we can brace up the crossmember before hacking it apart:
For now I ended up bending the brake line up and out of the way. I knew better than to mount it there......
Like I said, there are lots more pictures and details on the T5 thread that I didn't want to repeat (it took me over an hour typing it out last night) so feel free to check it out for more details.
