2010 F-150 with 5.4 has stalled shortly after filling gas tank last 3 times. Truck will restart after much cranking. No other stalls except after filling. Any ideas?

 

check the evaporation emission system. There is a system that captures vapors and burns them later in the engine. Sometimes if they fail or the tank gets overfilled (that's why they say not to fill past the first click-off), it causes problems. Good luck!

 

Sounds like the tank is not venting properly. This is somewhat common problem with newer vehicles. Possibly vent solenoid or canister purge acting up. I have seen where whole tank needs to be replaced for this problem, not on Fords though...

 

My 2010 5.4 did this for the first time about two months ago. I normally turn the motor off while filling up but this one time I didn't. It stalled while I was filling it and it took 2 restarts to get it to clear out and run ok. No problem since then but I've made sure to turn the engine off when filling up. I just figured it sucked some gas into the venting system while filling. I always stop when the pump kicks off the first time, never overfilling it.
