Costco Tires

Hey All, So I just came back from Costco and noticed that there is $70 instant saving when you buy four Michelin Tires. I got online and see that there are a few to choose from, what are you thoughts on the different types.

Tire Size: LT265/75 R16 123/120R Load Range E

1) Michelin - X Radial LT2
2) Michelin - LTX M/S2
3) Michelin - LTX A/T2

I like the Michelin - LTX A/T2 for the small times I do go off road, nothing crazy though. Which would you be more inclined to purchase? Currently I have some BF Goodrich Rugged Trail TA on the EX, but they've seen better days.

Cheers

The LTX A/T2 is a great all around tire.

I love Costco for everything but it's frustrating that they will only install tires that are OEM size unless you come in with larger tires on your rig already.

Glad to hear your experience with them. That's the exact reason I'm shopping for tires. Going to the mountains next month and the current tires have started to dry rot.

We'll be getting the A/T2 tires here shortly. From what I've read they're the ones to get. I have wanted the M/S2 for years because they were the best tires on my Cummins, but the A/T2 seem to have all the advantages and none of the disadvantages.

I was told I could put 286/75R16 on my stock 16"s by my local Costco.

Foot in mouth here. The graphs here tell a different story than the specs I read.

M/S2
13.5/32" 70,000mile

A/T2
16/32" 60,000mile

Shamefully I still haven't gotten new tires . The Ex has been out of commission for a while. Have read good things about BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 though. So maybe this is the year .

They give a $50 rebate for BFG until Feb 28th. I've been checking on the KO2 for my 18s. The good thing with costco is they use nitrogen but wouldn't mount the 285 on stock 16x7 because the tires calls for 7.5 wheel. And, they said they won't let you leave if they rub.

Costco is awesome for many reasons but I wouldn't put any value on the nitrogen gimmick, N2 is fine to use in tires but has no additional benefits over air that comes out of a standard standard compressor for your vehicle.

SURE it does !!! N2 is stable with temperature changes so you don't have to add any in the Winter. N2 is also heaver than air which will add weight on the ground which is EXactly where you want it for that EXtra stable, safe ride.

Both the 00 & 02 X's have Michelin 285/75/16 LTX under them. They are good tires but both X's have aftermarket rims so the tires are fairly wide.
The dually has 235/85/16 Michelin MS2's under it and it's an excellent tire. First year they were on we got 17 inches of snow and the dually plowed through the snow fine without 4x4. Of course the 4x4 had to be engaged to pull out my plow truck in my yard!
It seems the traction is better with the MS2's but keep in mind 4 tires are spinning with the 4.10 limited slip on skinny stock rims.
