resonators on a big six?

What are yalls opinions? I hate dual exhaust sounds. I hate the loudness, but I want some sound when I push the loud peddle and I want a deep idle.
I don't want raspy and I don't want the typical drone. Do y'all think a good xpipe, then resonators then mufflers and a set of downturns would sound good?
I don't know much about resonators except that they work by resonating a certain frequency that reduces decibels and deepens the sound

Sound is all in the ear of the beholder and to get the sound you want will require much experimenting with the different and nearly infinite combinations of stuff you can hang on the exhaust system.

Its hard to gauge what does and doesnt sound good between different peoples tastes, but just for reference, I had a the stock cat going to a single flowmaster with a single turndown. Sounded decent but very modest, no drone, quiet but decent idle sound.

I prefer a single exhaust, just makes sense to me. Everything comes off one side of the motor, keep it that way. Depending on what header you have (stock EFI, carb, or otherwise) I'd just do a single 3" exhaust through a decent muffler, turndown and call it done. Resonators are necessary when your using a glasspack or something without baffles. A regular ole flowmaster should land you in the quiet/still audible range.

I Don't use flowmasters

I have actual headers, two pipes. I don't want to run them together with a 4inch exhaust and out the side.

I had my down pipe then a thrush welded and a couple feet of straight pipe before and it sounded great, and my plan is to use them again in a bigger size, but I don't known if I want resonators.

try these fellers-this is what I have on my DD and I love the sound...you can say I have been through a few exhaust systems and mufflers and I will stick with these guys. Email through contact email with your truck info and sound you would like and the owner will reply with his muffler opinion.

I have efi manifold. My setup is 2 1/4 from the manifolds to my MagnaFlow muffler dual inlet single outlet it sounds great has a nice mean sound when you get on it and nice when you cruise it does drone but only because it's dumped before the rear axle. I had a flowmaster and it was great but magnaflow will alway flow better then flowmaster.

It drones because it's a ****ty muffler.

My old set up which I swear to god was 2ft long never droned. I literally had it where once it came down from the engine and was under the cab, there was a thrush welded muffler(in my crossmember for my tranny) then 18" of straight pipe and a down turn to put the sound down instead of bouncing between my bed and the road it went out the side/down.

Then why don't you use that same setup. Oh try reading the exhaust clips thread. I'm sure you will find something there or go back to stock exhaust.
