96 E150 5.8 Idler Pulley Question

I have recently purchased this van with a couple of belt drive noises knowing that some of/all of the pulleys were bad. However, I am having trouble finding the idler pulley that was used for vans made without air pumps. It is just a steel pulley about 5-5/8" in diameter with a single bearing and one bolt through the center. The part number on the pulley is F6TE19A216-F(E or B). I removed it because the bearing seized and put a shorter belt on for now but it slips on start up. Any positive input is appreciated.

Ok, do you have a part number or anything? Was your van a 5.8 w/o the air pump? I've been to every part store and online searching for this pulley but no luck. Even the Ford dealer's parts department said they are not making it... Just to be clear this is not the idler high on the motor. This one is where the air pump should be, below the alternator on the passenger side

Ok, so a little different approach to the situation. Looking closer, the bearing pn is 6203LU by NTN. This bearing is available thru a few popular online shopping sites and I'm considering pressing out the old and swapping for a new one since the pulley which from what I can find is Motorcraft pn ys-266 and is no longer available anywhere. Could it really be THAT easy?

dont have a part number, its been a while since i replaced it .The bearing swap is the cheapest way to go . In most towns there is a bearing shop that will press out the old and put in the new . good luck

I had a bearing go bad on my car and when I bought the new part it was a plastic pulley where the old one was metal. The bearings were the same size so I pressed the bearing out of the new pulley and installed it in the old all metal pulley.

That's what I figured. I pressed the old bearing out. 17mm bore, 40mm diameter, 12mm width. Found bearings on fastenal and going to see if they have one in stock tomorrow. I did find a replacement pulley in Kansas at a dealership for $120+. I'll take $10 for a bearing all day long

don't use idler to bypass A.I.R pump, use shorter belt and reroute

My van did not come with an AIR pump. There was an idler in it's place which is the pulley with the bad bearing. I did press out the bearing and found a part number on the bearing seal. Reads "NTN 6203UL" which is readily available from fastenal. I did remove the pulley and routed a shorter belt as shown in your image top left. Problem is the belt squeels on startup. Seems to be on the alternator so I will not be running it until I have the time to stop and pick up a new bearing. I do see that I bought the wrong belt for that short alternate routing. I bought the 84.5 instead of the 84". Buying another belt will still cost more than the new bearing so I will go back to the factory routing once I get the chance. Thanks for the input

Angry I re-routed my belt in a diferent way. will this work ?

I had to eliminate the smog air pum and kept AC compresor and P/S pump on My 93 Bronco 302 Motor, used a 98 belt but it sliped so I separated the gerator with 2 waschers on each screw and its working fine ??? but had truble mounting the belt, my rout goes from the AC to the Water pump, to the P/S Pump, to the crankshaft, to the tensor, to the Generator to a "free well" and back to the AC, havente seen this rout any were so I am wondering if it will work all/wrigth.
