glow plugs, harnneses, valve cover gaskets.....oh my

I have had a couple of bad glow plugs since I have owned ol clifford.
It never was a big deal as I dont usually drive him everyday.

Lately my dd has been at my dads so clifford has been getting driven everyday.
Its going to be darn cold tomorrow so I quit putting off the inevitable.

#5 was bad....#6 plug, harness, gasket burned up...grr but I have not ever had that one off...

Pass side I replaced vc, harnesses and rear pig tail 15000 miles ago. I was in a pinch so I did the unthinkable..doorman.
Up until now it has in general run fine and I figured just the two gp were my cold start smoke.
Well that darn doorman front plug inside is all burned up...grr never again.
I had not had anything bad to say about the doormans but that ship sailed.
What crap pisspoor quality. I will never suggest them and am very sorry to anyone I ever turned onto them.
I am feeling much better with the used ford gaskets I had kept from other projects just in case than a new set of crap doormans.

Sd ford units WILL be going in with the other work hopefully very soon.
Pics to follow tonight...

Sorry to hear that, Aaron. Were these the one piece Dorman units or the old style?

I agree the SD stuff is the way to go.

Ya, I had the old style dormans on mine 5ish years ago and I had burnt pins on 3 of the gp's after 3 years, but only 10k miles. SD style is the way to go and cheaper.

I'm doing the SD gaskets and harnesses on mine when the time comes. I just did some on a '97 for a guy and I like them. I ordered them from Clay and it's about half as much to buy the Ford SD stuff as it is the Ford OBS stuff, and in my opinion it's an upgrade for our trucks, so it's a win win.
