running 93 instead of 87 gasoline

Does anyone think running 93 octane gasoline in my 14 3.7 L v6 F150 poses any problems for my trucks long term durability?

Thanks,
George

Won't hurt a thing but it's not necessary.

It will cost more. It will be a little harder to start in cold weather. Mileage may get worse. There is no upside in your case.

Only thing that'll hurt is your wallet for the $0.30 or so per gallon more. If it was EcoBoost yeah it probably would be worth the extra fuel costs.

If your engine is tuned for it run it otherwise run 87 and save a bit of cash.

Excerpted from the 2014 F-150 owner's manual ...
3.7L V6, 5.0L V8 and 6.2L V8 Engines

Regular unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 is recommended. Some stations offer fuels posted as Regular with an octane rating below 87, particularly in high altitude areas. Fuels with octane levels below 87 are not recommended.

Most modern engines adapt their ignition timing from the knock sensor. So you stand to gain some top-end power with high octane gas.

This was discussed briefly with Mike Harrison, the chief engineer for the 6.2L engine. Adrian, BigF350, used to be employed as an engineer for Ford as well and chipped in on this thread.
