1990 f250 no spark

I was doing an lower intake gasket job and when i put it back together it had no spark. When I unplug the spout it does have spark but no run. I did connect the batter and jumped the starter so I could set the timing to remove the distributor.. Could this have fried something? -1990, 302

No I do not think so unless you hooked up the battery backwards.

It does not sound good for the PCM Computer by getting spark with the SPOUT out and not with it in. I take it the injectors are not firing either.

All i know is it ran great until I did the lower intake gasket and now it only has spark with the spout unplugged. I assume the injectors are not firing because it won't run with or without the spout .

More than likely you may have left a wire off. I am not someone else but if you do not have power to the computer or if it dose not have good ground it may also do what you are talking about.

You do not give any other information, as do the fuel pump run for one second each time you turn on the key? I am guessing it does not.
Does the PCM Power relay close when you turn on the key (brown bottom)?
Does the battery neg post have a wire going to the body (not the frame) and have other small wires hooked to that point?

Now that you say that. About a month ago the little negative ground wire that goes to the body the connector fell of but it still ran fine without it connected. I wonder if this is the problem

Yes the fuel pump cycles and I don't know what the PCM power relay is

It is called the EEC power relay in the diagram below. It should have a brown bottom.

That wire is the ground for the Computer and other items.
From the NEG post it should go to the body. Then there should be at least two wires at that point. One of the wires is black with a white stripe and the one that goes to the computer pins 40 & 60 is black with a green stripe.

OK ill so that must be the problem I'll throw a new connector on it and if that doesn't work I'll check that relay thanks for your help

I connected the wire with no change in spark so how should I check the relay?

When you turn on the key the EEC Power relay should click (make) and send power from the yellow wire at the base of its brown socket to the red wire that goes to all of the injectors and other places.

Also when you turn on the key the Fuel pump relay should click (make) and send power from the yellow wire at the base of its green socket to the brown wire that goes to the Inertia switch and on to the selected fuel pump by way of the selector switch on the dash for one second and then drop back out.

OK thanks I'll ckeck that next, I'm getting a new computer from a ford mechanic for free this weekend so I'll have to try that to

Through a new ecm in there and that changed nothing. I have yet to check the power relay because I need someone to turn the key on while I listen. Can Someone tell me how to track down the issue further? I'll check the relay tomorrow

As you can see in the below diagram #1 there is not much difference between how the ignition system works with the spout in or out. With it in and no spark the SPOUT (called timing test lead in the diagram #1 below) is keeping the ICM from firing the coil.
If replacing the computer does not change anything then you are not getting power to the computer (pins #1, #37 & 57 in diagram #2 below) or it does not have a ground (pins 40 & 60 in diagram #3 below).

Power to the computer comes from the power relay in diagram #2 below. Also make sure that fuse link #N is not left off of the battery side of the starter relay (solenoid) on the passenger fender (in diagram #2 below). Also make sure the fuse link is still a good one by stretching it. If it stretches it is bad.
