1947 chain drive truck

I have never had it running actually. Well I got a rebuilt mag and then found it had 2 stuck valves so I loosened them up and it ran ok. So next time I started it, it started making the racket and it lost compression in # 2. I plan to pull the head this winter. I have heard they are real good welders. Mine is on a trailer and cost me 200 bucks.

Hey GB
You need to save this one. it's right up your alley( and only $2500). I would if I had the room.

Sorry, it just ain't gonna happen. I have something like 11 old trucks, a woodie, two rotten mopar woodies, Two tractors, various antique gas engines, just traded for a 20' straight inboard boat with a 302 ford, on and on and on. I know exactly what would happen if I bought it. Total obsession, total money, lay awake at night thinking how to fix stuff, getting it running great, new brake$, and then another shed to keep it in. A year later I haven't driven it. The ethanol gas is toast, the battery terminals corroded, clutch plate stuck to the flywheel. And nobody will buy it for 1500.00. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my flathead ford trucks. I just don't need any more of them. Oh, and the bigger the better doesn't count with the old fords.

I think it was 2500.00 for quite a while... Now it's half. I'm gonna wait til they give me 1250.00 to take it. And I'll think on it a while. I'm not saying it isn't completely cooler than sh!+, just that one of YOU guys needs to get this one. My tonner panel is going on the block this spring. I drove it once last year and I owe 3 years back taxes on the 5 acres I bought next to me.

Don't get me wrong, I DO like it very much. I'd need to have it hauled plus a huge ferry ticket and then starts the heavy work of fixing it. I'm just trying to keep my work trucks on the road so I can complete the high pressure cabinet job I have embarked on. I have two down right now. One tranny problem, the other has a grenaded sterling 10.25 rear axle. After almost 40 years of business I have learned this kind of fun comes in waves......

You definitely do have a lot of great trucks and we all enjoy watching your build threads. Just a quick question, is there a problem with the sterling 10.25s? We are looking at installing one on the f350 to replace the 6 bolt rear end so I am curious if there is something we should be checking.
Good luck with your cabinet project but remember to stop and enjoy life too. Thanks
