Plan in the Transfer Case Shifter

i have a 2004 f150 i was wondering the plate on the transfere case to shift it in and out of 4 wheel drive if there is pose to be any play and if so how much is to much just having a hard time getting it in and out of 4 high thanks for any info

My 2004 F150 has very little play in the manual shifter.
