Dual piston Caliper mounting bolt

Have a 1978 F250 4x4 with the dual piston front calipers. My caliper slider holding bolt is located on the bottom of the spindle anchor bracket. The shop manual shows it located at the top. I'm thinking my spindle brackets have been swapped left and right? The parts book shows a left and right bracket, and they look symmetrical that they could get swapped. I've done these brakes before on other trucks and they were mounted at the top, and were a lot easier to put back together that way. Anyone else see this?

That is where mine were on my 78 F250 4x4. Be careful removing those. One of mine snapped when I was removing it, so I had to drill and tap the bracket.

I think the shop manual is wrong, all of the ones I have ever had are on the bottom

Yes, they go on the bottom. Your manual is incorrect.

X3 on bolt is always on the bottom. X3 on do not break it, X3 always use anti seize compound on it.

OK, I'll leave it as it is. Thanks for the input!

I agree, they are most definitely on the bottom and there is a left and right hand bracket, they are not the same.
