Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any experience with installing the new anti-rattle kit? In particular, I am having a lot of problems door glass u-channel that runs around the outside. The piece I got it long and straight, but has to bend around the top corner and kinks everytime. Ugghhhhh!! Does anyone make a pre-molded piece? I have pic's if that helps?

While it appears that there are some low quality window runs out there, most have success molding the run around the glass, then installing. In the thread above, you'll find a link to detailed instructions written by an FTE member some time back.

When I got my first kit the box was damaged in shipping. This caused the u channel to be bent. I didn't think it was bad enough to bother sending it back till I tried to use it. The first on worked fine, The felt welting slid thru the bead as it was being molded and formed perfectly. The second one I did the bead was pinched slightly and would not let the felt welting to slide thru the bead and did exactly what you are experiencing, it kinked. I ended up getting new ones and they worked great. Forgot to add got both sets from DC. They submitted a claim to UPS on my first set and I got reimbursed for them.

 

The repro's mimic the Ford originals, have to be carefully bent to fit.

In 1982, I replaced all the inside door weather strips of my '65 F100, had no problem bending these channels, but used genuine Ford parts...as they were still available back then.
