Taking a crossmember out

A friend found a divorced t-case cross-member at a self-service wrecking yard. The truck is an early-70's Ford. I'm assuming that the part is riveted in and that I can get an angle grinder to the top of the frame-rail without removing the bed.

Am I fooling myself?

you could probably get it out that way, but it is only good for use on a pre 77 truck with narrow frame.
it may work on a newer cab chassis truck, but it really is not worth the headache involved with pulling it out, unless you really need one. .
