please help need advice on crazy tranny and 4x4 actions

Hi everyone I'm new to this site but I've owned 4, 99-2001 F250 SD 7.3l and I love them. I own a retail Tire store and mechanic shop in northeast GA, I do allot of mechanic work but I don't do transmission work and I don't claim to know anything about trannies but
. The one I have now is a 2001 4wd with 175k on it. Had no problems since I have had it, it has not gave 1 problem Till today on My way to work (less than 3miles) w I stopped at a stop sign and when I took off it shifted smooth from 1st to 2nd and when it tried to go to 3rd it went straight back to 1st. It was a rapid change in speed. I mean it almost stopped dead where it was. Then I heard a sound that sounded like a fishing real striping when you leave your thumb barely on the button when you throw it. Anyway I thought it was trying to kick into 4wd. It would work fine when I would start out strong but if u tried to go easy it was hard to sift into 3rd without it making a popping noise. Anyway I thought the worst so I stop at my tire store and mechanic shop to check the fluid in it and all is fine. So I crank it back up and try to pull it into a bay when I turned the wheel sharp to the left and go forward it snaps the tie rod that connects to pitman arm. So I'm convinced it's jumping into 4wd. I replace tie rod, make sure it's not jumping into 4wd and to make a long story short it's still doing the same except now instead of throwing back into 1st i can make it shift into 2nd and it will change through the rest of the gears fine until I let of the gas then it losses all puling power and acts like it's in neutral. I can pull off on the side of road turn the truck off and back on, put it in gear and it will do the same thing for about a mile and I lose all power again. Please help I can give a lot more info but don't want to take up anymore room on this pg LOL. Thank you Adam Hicks.
