Should my 6.0 PSD "roll coal"? Lol serious question
So i have an 06 F250 6.0 psd with 63k, I got it bone stock. It smoked a THIN little cloud MAYBE, under wot but i believe they ran offered diesel fuel, i began running 5-20% biodiesel and when i filled up the tank the first time black "smoke" came out of my gas tank inlet, like a decent amount lol. I did both fuel filters and an oil change to 10w30 after that. I end up doing an egr delete, upgraded oil cooler, a 4" diamond eye turbo back with muffler, an edge cts for monitoring, a Sctx4 running the boxed 50hp\tq towing tune and tranny tune with firmer shifts. And i run Archoil additive in my oil, and Optilube xpd\winterblend in my fuel.
Under WOT from a stop or rolling my truck doesn't "roll coal" one bit, it just doesn't smoke at all I've had my dad put his head out the window and watch. Now this isn't what I'm going for but EVERY other diesel i see online or in person smokes black so it kind of has me a little worried lol. I was thinking uh maybe i have too low of fuel pressure or something but i mean it has plenty of power.
Should my truck smoke? Or do most diesels smoke from a "fat" tune with too much fuel? Do my fuel additives make such a good burn it doesn't smoke lol?

The 1997 Powerstroke that I had never blew black smoke. I ran Ford's diesel additive in every tank and had a DP Tuner 4 position chip in it.
It's only my opinion, but guys that want to "roll coal" are only wasting fuel and adding pollution. It really doesn't accomplish much.

isn't 10w30 very light for a diesel? doesn't that vehicle take like 15w40 or smething?? blowing black smoke out the tail pipe is nothing more than unburnt fuel. so all those stickers that say "black smoke don't mean its broke" or some crap like that are stupid. it just means that your not able to tune the vehicle correctly, it either comes to this you add fuel and you don't add air you get smoke. you need to up the boost or air going into the motor to match the fuel the tune gives you. thus you will see some very fast diesels not smoking and you will see some that look like 1950s diesel freight trains.
I would be happy that it doesn't smoke, it means it runs right.

I guess they come from the factory with 10w30, I will be putting in 15w40 on my next oil change being for the summer, it got down to -30 here last year so i figured to help aid in starting exc i would run 10w30. The owners manual has a temperature chart showing which thickness to use. As far as the "rolling coal" thing i was thinking the fuel acted as a cooler in the combustion process. So was just kind of worried if everyone elses smoked and mine didn't exc. But now that others are saying theirs didn't, I'm starting to feel better about it.

I run a mild tow tune along with a FICM tune and mine doesn't smoke at all. The only time it smoked is when an injector went out.
I also run the Archoil in the oil, and T5 10w30 oil. You can run the 10w30, just make sure it's rated for diesel (CJ4). Some guys don't like to tow heavy loads on the 10w30.

I was having issues which made it look like theveryone FICM was bad? Started running rough and would push the pedal to floor and no go for about 10 seconds then would start to go, I replaced the FICM, ran a little better would go but not far when died I notice no fuel in top filter so I replaced the fuel condition pump then got fuel but was choking out not enough fuel so I did blue spring and now running great, but blowing black smoke when excelerating, not sure if it's because I started with thinking it was gelled so I put some de gelling into fuel and injector cleaning product in fuel? Any thoughts on smoke?
