Does anyone not tow anything with their SD?

I'm just a little curious, because I will not be camping or hooking up my trailers till March. I guess I'm just feeling a little guilty not putting it straight to work. Just wondering if anyone just bought their truck because of looks, extra room,or whatever and not towing with it?

I think more owners do this than you realize. I bet only 10% of the miles on my 6.7 have been towing miles. I could get by with an F-150 but I'm a torque addict!

I'm the same. 10-15% towing. In the summer its about 50% towing though because I drive a car to work. That's getting ready to change though depending on the outcome of Ford's helpfulness in determining why my mileage in the 14 is soo much lower than my 11.

I would guess that app. 20% of my miles are towing but my 5th wheel is a 31 footer therefore I feel I do need the diesel. App. 1/2 of those tow miles are in the Eastern Sierras where a gasser would be at a serious disadvantage.

I use my truck to tow my boat..which is about 10 times a year. And the boat weighs a huge 4500 pounds. I bought the truck for the future purchase of a 10k+ boat. My little hyundai gets driven daily. When I do drive the truck most of it is not for towing.

I'm the opposite. When I'm working my normal schedule I'm towing a work trailer about 1,000 miles/week on average. We used the camper last week for a cool 900 miles.

Sometimes I think back and realize there's a trailer on my truck almost every day.

But, it's business for me. That's why I have it and why I like it so much. If I didn't need one for work I'd probable have a used one anyway to use like y'all do, weekend stuff and a few Rv trips throughout the year.

The only thing that bugs me are all the high school kids with these diesels making 500+ hp. I pray they keep them under control.

Probably 80% towing or hauling for me.

Otherwise I have a commuter car.

I personally wouldn't have my truck if it wasn't for towing/hauling/plowing. I'm with Scott at about 80%. Sure, I like the torque, but I can get my kicks from my wife's Hemi SUV in the winter and my car in the summer.

I have a TT that weighs around 10k that I may pull at some point, but in 14 months and 15,000 miles, I have yet to tow anything. It is my DD and work is 27 miles each way. I bought it because I wanted it - not because I needed it. I hope to someday be able to trade my TT for a fiver. Either way, it will be nice to have enough truck when the time comes.

On my 350, I have just over 5200 on the clock now, 1650 of which were towing.
On my 250, I had approx 65000 on it when I traded, and approx 22000 towing, so probably around the 30% mark.

Since the purchase, I think I've only got 9 hours of towing in. Hoping it will be more this year, looking at a new 5th, but we'll see how that pans out. Mostly, my DD for now.

32k non towing miles and it is my Daily Driver. Will I eventually tow something with it? Yes, but I got it after I got back from my deployment. I always wanted one. I hope to eventually get a Fver that me and the wife can enjoy in a couple of years.

I bought my truck for the utility and because I like to drive it. 20%-25% of the miles I am towing a 8500 lb TT. I make a number of road trips into the mountains or badlands by myself each year to fish and explore. I sleep in the shell .... the wife and the trailer stay home. Glorious alone time of 3-5 days at a time! My volunteer work sometimes requires space for 4 passengers into the high country. I use it and work it.

I also don't tow regularly at all as I have nothing to tow (right now). Any time a friend or work needs something towed I'm up for it, but it's rare. My F-250 is also my daily driver, in a city

I haven't picked up the 6.7 yet, it is ordered though. When I get it I will only be towing occasionally, and usually one of my boats. I still want the diesel and the 3/4 ton rating to be able to actually load heavy items in the bed, Nothing worse than having a bunch of brick or bags of motor in the bed of a 1/2 ton with the front end pointing skyward.
I currently drive a 2001 f250 with a 7.3 diesel, I am the second owner and the first owner never even put a receiver in the hitch. He did use the 4x4 though. I would rather have too much truck most of the time than not enough when I really need a truck. I also no longer like keeping spare trucks around for the needed job. To much maintenance, and insurance that way.
