Another ball joint thread...a little help?
Hi friends.
1999 explorer Eddie Bauer. V8 awd.
Horrible squeak on right front and think it's ball joint time.
So the top is a two piece and the bottom is serviceable I think.
It has the snap ring so I'm thinking Yep.
So I'm going to order from Oriellys.
Which one for the lower?

And the upper...need a full control arm?
Half of a two piece?
This one? Moog?

Last question. I need a pickle fork....harbor freight cheapie.
What size? Are there different sizes or just different lengths?
Search results for: 'pickle fork'
Going to rent a press for the lowers.
I appreciate the guidance...specially on the lower ball joint size and make.
Merry Christmas friends.
I appreciate all you do here to help others out.
Really do.

There are a couple different size pickle forks for tie rods - ball joints - bigger trucks... if your talking about "the $10. special"... it should be a generic one for cars and small trucks and should be fine.
The upper ball made into the new arm is a good way to go.. That way you know it will not work loose.. The lower is made to "PRESS" and has a snap ring retainer.
