High Pressure Power Steering Line Leaking Already?

Brought my 2011 Limited (6.2 so old school hydraulic power steering) in for its 45K service, and they found a weeping high pressure line. $100 special order part + 3 hours labor. This seems a little soon (to me) for PS components to be failing already, or is this a common repair? They said I could leave it alone for now and monitor it but could lose power steering while driving (safety risk).

Anybody heard of high pressure power steering line leaks at such low mileage/age before? Does 3 hours labor sound about right?

A week after I got my new '02 E-350, my power steering pump puked all over my friends driveway.
It can happen with new parts, too.
I have had several brand new parts that were defective, right from the factory.

Wow that sound expensive. I would have them show me what they need to do while it's on the rack. 3 hours seems a little long and $100 seems a little high but neither seem out of line.
45K does seem a little early for this part to need replacing however a weeping high pressure line is not something to mess with. I would get it replaced.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I decided to bite the bullet and get it replaced but skipped the flush since the fluid appeared fine and is all new except whatever was left in the rack.

that hose blew on my 09, with 33,000 km's, just as I was pulling into the dealers for an oil change. Hose was $168. canadian and 2 1/2 hours labor. The bill, with oil change was just under $550. including taxes.

That is a little soon for a hose like that to fail, but it can happen. Look at the bright side, a failed EPS rack will set you back more than double what this will.
