Well please don't scrap your old running gear.
It ain't made any more and there are them
on here that could use it. May be money to help
with the build.

Dgrant51, I want to urge you to get your new title before you do anything else. Clean the frame and find the Serial Number and confirm that it's the same as the Serial Number on the cab plate... but before you get to much into it, get it into your name, free and clear!

I wouldn't spend any more money on it tell I had a title in my name in my hand... See too many nice stock trucks tore all to hell........ Then a year later still tore to hell and for sale. RAN when parked, Bill of sale only $x.xxx (trying to get what they payed out of it) because they couldn't get a clean title..

The VIN # on the cab is F1R1KC26314. Where would the VIN Number on the frame be at?

Thats one thing working on the cab that I noticed is I dont think the cab is a 51 it has back cab corners like a 53. Im not to concerned about the title I know the previous owner hes just an older guy and any issues getting the title he will assist with.

You can find the serial # on the frame on the passenger side up by the motor mount on top. The Serial # you provided break down is as follow;

F1R1KC26314

F1 = 1/2
R = V8
1 = 1951
KC = Kansas City
26314 is the serial number for the truck

As far as the cab it isn't the body style of a 1953

It may have been swapped. But sometimes the stamps aren't all that clear. Could that "R" actually be a sloppy "H"? If so, it would be the 226 I6 flathead.

My 8 cyl. was swapped out to a 6 cyl. by a previous owner. They also swapped in the 4 speed spur gear tranny and floor trans cover. During my restoration, I am completing the transformation. (Battery tray, wiring, got rid of the column shift, etc.) Now you would only know of the change by looking at the VIN.

Your cab is definitely a '51. I don't know what you're looking at, but it's nothing like a 53.

By "cab corners" do you mean the rear window area? '51-'52's have larger rear windows than '48-'50, about the same size as 53-56.
