Turn Signal Switch. Emissions Woes Question

I got this beautiful 79 ford a couple of years ago. I'm not half the wrench or even a quarter some of you are so needing some advice.

Took the truck in early for emissions. Failed Idle. Said it's running rich. Last time it failed when I first got it I paid a carb shop around $350 to tune it. I'd rather not due that but the farthest I've gotten into a carb is removing it from a motorcycle. If I'm going to keep this I've got to be able to due some minor tuning.

It's a 460, slightly built with a 750 cfm carb on top, I can go get the brand if need be. Are there any tools I could buy to do my own emission testing for tuning purposes. Any special tools I may need? Any good self help sites for this stuff?

# 2 My turn signal switch is starting to fail. It's an automatic with a lokar floor shifter. There's two types of switches, one for automatic and one for manual. Should I buy the manual. Seems like the auto store is asking a wee bit of a premium for these.

143.99 for duralast sw 1104 for manual
118.99 for duralast sw 1105 for automatic.

Also, here's the link to lmc

is part # 2 the right one? 47-0757 or 47-0758?
Little more reasonable from them if so. Of course there's always shipping to consider.

I assume a shadetree mechanic could swap the turn signal switch out though I could be wrong.

Thanks for any feedback.

Since your truck came with A/T originally, you cannot use a T/S switch for a M/T / 460 only available with A/T (C6) thru 1982.

Tilt wheel operated by pushing the T/S handle forward.

D8TZ-13341-A .. T/S Switch-Use with Tilt Wheel / Available from Ford.

Applications: 1978/79 F100/350, Bronco & Econoline.

MSRP: $150.02 // FTE Ford dealer parts dept. sponsor silverstateford parts.com online price: $99.01.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D8TZ-13341-B .. T/S Switch-Use with A/T without Tilt Wheel / Available from Ford.

Same applications as above.

MSRP: $117.77 / silverstatefordparts.com online price: $77.73.

silverstatefordparts.com = Gaudin Ford ~ Las Vegas NV

Gaudin may not have these switches in stock, but it only takes a coupla days for them to order/receive them from Ford.

btw: More people are usually on FTE during the week...than they are during the weekend.

Sunday mornings even less people are here, as some go to Church or Ward, depending on their affiliation.

ND, I remember your kind responses from last time I logged in, thank you.

Problem is it's a 460 with a lift, 4wd and a c6, they didn't come that way stock I believe. I trust you of course but wanted to use the forums brains to avoid any trouble.

It didn't come with 4WD or a lift, possibly didn't come with the 460.

But it does have a C6. So as long as the original column (1978/79) remains in place, all you need is the correct A/T switch...with or without a tilt wheel.
