What is a 2000 low mileage worth?
Hi All,
I have a new Transit van on order and will have to decide if I will trade in my PSD or sell it outright. Have lots of people that have said they want it, but being a company owned, but still me personal truck it would be easier for me to trade it, plus it would save the sales tax on trade in amount. No capital gains too.
So my question is what kind of money is it really worth? I see them from $8k to $15k in our area of Ky. The dealer is selling me the new van at invoice so I know they still have some room to give me more than a wholesale price. And of course they want it as well.
My truck is;
-F250, stock
7.3, 4x4, extended cab, 8' bed. Tow Pkg. 3.73
-135,000 miles, never off road.
-Lariate, leather, loaded interior, excellent condition and very clean.
-White truck, garage kept, no rust or marks, except tailgate has scratch and some rust under bottom lip.
-Has always had a Leer topper and rubber mat so bed is great shape.
-Tranny was rebuilt at about 50k miles with shift kit, HD converter, larger pan.
-Pillar gauges, tran temp, pyro, boost.
-New brakes recently
-New tires
-new fuel sender, pump, clean tank. Yep water from FJ truck stop.
-Front end work as required
-All TSB and recalls up to date.
Really a great truck but I don't need a diesel anymore as my trailer now is small, and what I haul would be better in an enclosed van.
Again would be easier to trade but I am not going to give it away. Are they really bringing close to $15k or are those pipe dreams by the sellers?
Thanks for any comments.

Yes. The same for Oregon and California.
If I were to sell my 7.3L, of the same year, with ZERO rust anywhere, and with only 50 something thousand miles, I wouldn't ask less than $25K. And my truck has everything the OP's truck has (Lariat, leather, 4x4, yada yada), plus two extra doors, two extra wheels, a utility bed, and 10K more GVWR. Heck maybe I should ask $30K, because the truck. at over 14K GVWR, is also exempt in CA from biennials.

Yes, you should absolutely advertise yours nationally. And keep an eye out for another tailgate, if a white one pops up locally. If that is the only rust you have, and you can address it cheaply, then rust will no longer be in your description.
A white super cab 4x4 with a shell and a long bed is almost the sweet spot of what most people are looking for. Add to this your 2000 model year, which has fully FORGED RODS, and does not have the early 2001 diode transmission problem. People WANT your particular truck. They are looking for it nationwide. You should advertise it nationwide.

Not ashamed to admit I paid $17.5k for my 2002...similar condition truck as this one is described. It was a tad over NADA at the time. I had looked for nearly three years and this truck was everything I needed and wanted, so I bit the bullet.
Now....I got $5,700 out of my '94.5 PSD Dually which was a great running truck, just cosmetically wasn't anything to look at. Just further proof that the 7.3 is very desirable.
So yes...this truck could bring $15k easily IMO. If you trade it in for $8k I think you're crazy, as you will probably see a sign in the window the next day for $16k ;-)

Just got back from the dealer, looks like I will most likely trade. They will give me what I asked, and I think the salesman wants it for himself on his farm.
Be much easier paperwork wise to trade also.
Thanks for all the feedback on this. At least I went in knowing that I was being reasonable.
