Buy it?? 2015 F250 Platinum -- Advice please
I've read the reviews, specs and threads here, but want to ask your opinion. I've never owned a 250, always a 150. I'm thinking of buying a 250 Platinum in the next few weeks. Is there a reason I should wait on future models or not consider the 250 for 2015?
This is a bit vague I know, but yes I'll use it for towing, yes I'd like the power, and yes I like the looks.
Thanks in advance for your responses

You didn't say what engine is in the F250. If diesel, the cost of maintenance will be more than the F150 along with fuel costs over the life of the truck. If gas engine, costs will be very similar as the F150.
If you like it and can afford payments and/or maintenance cost if diesel, go for it. If you feel your current truck is starting to be a maintenance nightmare, upgrade. Just take your time and think long term instead of immediate gratification of buying it right now.

need to know engine and actual type of driving the truck will see. IF you drive a lot of miles per year, don't make a lot of short trips, and do a lot of heavy towing then a diesel would be my first choice. Any other type of driving get the gas, especially if you do a lot of short drives since these don't warm the diesel up enough.
As for buying a '15 or waiting for the '16, that's up to you. I personally would just buy the '15 since I like the way they look and they are pretty much a proven design. The only thing I've read about the '16's that interests me in the aluminum body(I live in the rust belt).

After having a dozen or more F150s starting with a used 1986 model in the late 80's, I went to a new 2014 F250 XLT w/6.2 gasser back in April. You'll notice the ride difference for sure. It rides like a 3/4 ton. Mileage isn't a whole lot different than my 2013 F150 with 5.0. Probably a little better mileage when towing a trailer because the truck isn't working as hard as the F150 did.
Now that I've had this F250 for 8 months, I don't see going back to a 150 anytime soon.

Hey all, I appreciate the responses. I'll be going with the 6.7.
My commute is very short at the moment, but I have another car and don't plan to commute with this on the daily. As for towing, I'll be towing a 23' boat which I know an F150 can handle, but the 250 will handle much better in the hills for sure. There's a possibility we may buy a toy trailer in the next couple years, so I'm thinking ahead a bit.
My 150 is a 2002 KR with only 60k miles on it (very low miles for the year), but I fear I may have to spend some money on it in the next few years upgrading suspension/motor parts. Would really rather not put money into it and sell it while it's in great condition.
Since I'm new to the 250 and the diesel, I guess I'm look for some assurance from you experienced 250 guys as to the 250 6.7 platinum being a good purchase as related to other diesels in the same class (dodge, chevy, gmc). I'm a ford guy and this is obviously a ford forum haha, but that's kind of what I'm getting it. Would a newer 2016/17 model be nice, sure maybe...but I think I can get a pretty good deal right now before year-end on this platinum so that's why I'm considering it. The one I'm interested in has a Fabtech dirt logic lift on it from the dealer and looks great, so that helps.
Thanks much

the 6.7 has had a really good track record. There are some issues here and there but nothing like the 6.0 and 6.4 had. My buddy works at a Ford dealership and they get very few 6.7's in that actually need a repair, most are just in for routine servicing.
I don't know about the other brands since I have no interest in them.

Hahaha, I guess I'll have to start over new or ask a Mod if I can change the "1" to a "2"

Sounds lke a nice truck choice.
I would skip any sort of lift kit if you're doing any towing with the truck as you'll just end up with axle wrap troubles and it will be less stabile under braking..
The best deals will be with the trucks that are on the lots now vs ordering new.
