38-39 Ford Pickup parts interchange

Howdy
Just found a 38-39 ford pickup truck and it needs parts.[door and fenders to start with] Do these interchange during those years?

Pretty much everything interchanges between '38 and '39 with the exception of brake parts (mechanical in '38 with self energizing cable brakes, and normal hydraulic brakes in '39) and the grille I think would interchange, but there are some stylistic differences. Good luck and welcome aboard. We don't see a lot of those two years here.

You might have a little trouble with the door gap.

Look for hydraulic lines to the brakes, or a master cylinder through the hole in the floor. That's a '39, if you see cables going to all wheels, then it;s a '38. I think that roof will buff out. (with a ten pound sledge hammer). We don't see a lot of trucks that rough here either. If you pull this one out of the fire, you will have our attention in a big way. Excellent that you have pictures up already. Now, go out there and start banging away

I have a 48 F2 and the engine, trans and rear end all came from this truck and just made since to obtain and salvage. Hopefully put back on the truck where they came from. Once unloaded hope to find more parts. Thanks for the support, just ordered a porta power...

38-39 Ford Pickup parts interchange

You sure its not a 40/41 3/4 ton or larger truck? The headlight stands have parking lights in them and there appears to be a filler panel between the front fender and the hood that is solid like a 40/41 not with horizontal slots lie a 38/39. Also there is a gas tank filler hole on the passenger side of the cab indicating it wasn't a 1/2 ton pickup 38/39 and 40/41 1/2 ton pick ups had the tank under the bed and the big trucks had the tank under the seat. I'll have to look at my '39 but I think the firewall is different than what is shown in your photos. A picture of the grill would tell for certain.

Didn't the front window open on a 38 and 39 as well? 51504BAT... I think you are correct.

The moulding around the back of the cab under the window looks like '40-'47. The hood is a '41 3/4 ton- 1 1/2 ton. Did the '38-'39 have parking lights in the headlight stands like the '40-'41 big truck?

I'm attaching some photos of the firewall of my '39 as well as some photos of a 40/41 cab I used to own. Notice the straight line on the firewall on the 40/41 as compared to the more curved line on the '39 firewall. Also, the 40/41 convential cabs didn't have an opening windshield like the 38/39's did.

The more I look at the photos I'm sure the cab is not a 38/39. Given the hood which is a '41 big truck as compared to a '40 big truck I'm betting on a '41 express type p/u due to the bed. I've got a NOS grill for a 40/41 as well as some other big truck parts. PM me if you're interested or if you have any other questions about 40/41 big trucks.

The quick way to tell a 38 cab from a 39 cab is the center of the dash. 38 had an ash tray opening, 39 did not.

Agree with 51504BAT, that is a 41 122" express.

I don't see the ash tray in the pic of the interior.
