I was at Ford Dealership a while back and one of the techs showed me a snapon socket that was designed for 6.0 fuel filters. It was reversible, one side 36mm, the other was 24mm and it was standard 3/8" square drive. Nice tool! I was wondering if anyone knows of a less expensive version of this socket. It seems like such a cool tool that someone must have made a cheaper version by now. Anyone have any leads? I think snapon get like 38 bucks or so.
I paid $6 for a 1/2" drive 36mm deep socket at Sears. I know the combo is nice but not worth $38 IMHO, especially since I don't use it anymore cause I'm BULLETPROOFED!!!!!!
Liesie tool corp has one, think it's about 25 bucks. I'd buy the Snap On thou........but that's just me. If your handy go to Lowes and buy the 2 sockets and weld them together....about 15 bucks and 15 minutes time
That's what I payed for mine (just ck'd my recipt) if your not doing for a living why spend that kind of money Lowes will be good enough and Kobalt brand is great stuff
If I ever get to where I can't carry 2 sockets to the truck, I have bigger problems than a filter change. Anybody that has worked on a vw bug has a 36mm and the fuel filter is 15/16".
I ordered these a couple years back. They are small, lightweight and easily store in the glove box so I always have them with me: http://www.ebay.com/itm/170602592087?item=170602592087&viewitem=&vxp=mtr

I agree 100%. I change oil and fuel at home, not on the side of the road.
All I did was get the Lisle one and then take a 2nd one
that is 1/2" drive so I could use the short 3/8" extension
to hold them together. Makes it easy tool find in the tool
box. They are the only 2 black sockets stacked with chrome
sticking out the top.
