2001 ranger Good buy/trade?

Hi all, I am thinking of trading my 93 IDI 7.3l diesel auto 152k on it 4x4. Somethings up with the OD it flashes think it needs a trans harness or solenoid pack in trans. I don't have money to put into it so I'm thinking of trading for this truck, owner seems seriously interested check it out... Any seriously wrong with these trucks? Please let me know I am in need of a vehicle asap THANK YOU

I talked to him and he said that the ABS light comes on occasionally. I read that can be a problem with the brakes locking up?

When the ABS system monitor detects a problem in the ABS system, it turns ON the yellow ABS warning light and DEACTIVATES the ABS system.

The ABS light will come on for numerous reasons. It warns the driver that the ABS has been deactivated due to a symptom that exists in the ABS. Normal power assist braking remains, but the wheels can lock during a panic stop.

Most faults that occur in the anti-lock brake system will be stored as a diagnostic trouble code in the keep-alive memory of the anti-lock brake control module (not the PCM).

If it were me, I'd want to know what ABS codes are stored. They can be retrieved with a scan tool capable of pulling codes from the ABS control module.

I would not let the ABS light keep me from trading if i liked the truck and that was all that was wrong with it. my ABS light has been on in my 93 since october. you still have brakes, just not abs. remember when there was no ABS? who needs it.

Thanks for your input guys. That's all that is wrong with it. I'm not too worried about it. I am hoping to make a trade sometime this week or at least take a look at the truck. Looks clean on the outside no rust, I hope the same goes for the frame!
