Question oil pressure

i put a new timing belt on my truck and drove for about 30 minutes .i looked at the oil pressue guage and it was way below the low position on the guage.about a half block later the truck died and it woud not start again.so i towed it home and tore it apart and the timing belt was missing about 8 teeth.can anybody tell me what would make this happen.its a 92 ranger with a 2.3.thanks,scott

oil pressure

May have sucked some crap into the oil
pump, which would seize the pump and
strip cogs off the belt...
