The speed control system is designed to automatically maintain vehicle speed at any driver-selected speed above approximately 30 mph and below approximately 125 mph. The system is comprised of an electronic servo which consists of a throttle actuator with integrated electronics and other parts including an actuator cable, horn relay, driver control switches, a brake lamp switch and a deactivator switch. The speed signal is generated by the Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module (PSOM). The electronic servo is mounted in the engine compartment and is connected to the throttle linkage with an actuator cable.

Where it says "BRUSH" in the below diagram there is a clockspring in its place in 1993.

The one on the front of the master cylinder that causes all the fires?

I think the 1994 was the first year truck to put the speed control deactivation pressure switch on the master cylinder.

I agree 100%...my last two 1993 Lightnings had the Brake Pressure switch located on the frame rail near the RABS module. It's still the same fire prone switch that the 1994 and later trucks had mounted on the master cylinder. I highly suggest you check to see if the recall harness/fuse was installed.

cruise control stopped working

I just joined this site. As a backyard mechanic I have looked at it several times for answers to problems. My cruise worked yesterday, not today. After looking at you tube, I discovered the most common problem with the cruise control, but was left scratching my head to find the activate/deactivate switch on my 93. Found it easy from the quote, plug in was loose, but if that is not the problem, I"ll start by replacing the switch. I hope I can say "fixed it" instead of asking "where do I go from here" Thanks for the info on this site!

My 1994 F250 460 cruise control sets and stays but it constantly surges i.e. slows down, speeds up etc. I believe from all that I have read it it is most likely the throttle control, or else maybe the servo. What is your opinion?
