Are the truck frames (i.e. F-350) any stronger than a stock Bronco frame?

 

Yes, they are much stronger. Also the rear of the Bronco frame curves upward right behind the cab. When you're in a Bronco, look behind the front seats and that 6" rise to the rear seats is also reflected in the frame. The HD/SD frame is flat from the cab back.

There is an '83 parts Bronco a few miles away so, based on your comments, I decided I had better go look at it again. I see the fairly abrupt rise in the frame. I also see the brackets on the side of the frame for the six body-mounts. Based on a sliding caliper, the sheet metal in the frame measures about a sixteenth of an inch thicker on the F-350 than on the Bronco.

However, I do note that the F-350 frame does have a rise in it starting under the cab, but it is more gradual than the Bronco's.



What would be really cool at this point would be to have a Bronco frame right beside the F-350 frame.

Is anybody aware of a good thread on using a Bronco body on a truck chassis?
