Does The F-150's Fake Engine Noise Bother You?
So what do you think?
Does The F-150's Fake Engine Noise Bother You? - Ford Trucks
I guess it wouldn't be so bad as long as you can turn it off.

Meh I'm I guess im indifferent really.
I do love the V8 burble, that's one thing that sold me on a 5.0L over the Ecoboost back in 2011.
Though I do think had I gotten an Ecoboost, I would have gotten used to the V6 hum and probably wouldn't have thought much of it as time went by.
That being said, IMO it's kinda cool to have the option to ''enhance'' your vehicles sound so long as it can be turned on and off at the drivers discretion.

I wish it was something that could be turned off. Like I said, it sounded "different" than what I remembered, but my first thought wasn't "It's a fake!"
I keep joking with these OEMs that I wish I could set the noise that the stereo makes. Like some days, I want my car to sound like a Ferrari 458 Italia, and others a Challenger Hellcat, and others a NASCAR stock car. That'd be kinda fun.

Fake Engine Sound
I test drove a 2015 F 150 Platinum on 12/19/14 - I liked the sound inside the truck. The truck had plenty of power and the fit & finish were great. So all I need is 60K now to buy it. Lol
I currently have a 2014 Ford F 150 Tremor (Ruby Red) - Loaded.
Fast Truck and I Love it.

More proof Ford is on the WRONG path?
Question is this - Is the 5.0, the only available V8, enough to save the F150? The half ton market could well move to Ram or GM with their larger V8 offerings. Ford sold a LOT of 1975 Mustangs only for buyers to realize they'd been had a year or two later....
IMO the trucks that will be around many years from now will be those with the larger engines (V-8's) that don't have to work so hard to accomplish the task. Think about your brand long term.
That said, if I buy another new truck it will either have the Ford 6.2 or it will be a Ram.

The EcoBoost engines have been out for nearly four years now, and some of them are seeing lots of miles under heavy use. Thus far engine failures are very rare. There's lots more to engine longevity than displacement.

Just seems like the EcoBoost engines under a heavy load will be more winded than a V8 and would be downshifting more often. Its just a kiddish thing to fake an engine sound. Its funny Ford dumped a ton of money into a new engine line up and only work on a few engines they think are a honey hole and neglect any updates for a V8. Have they even done a single update on the 5.0L since 2011 for power upgrades or fuel economy? Way too many chips in the EcoBoost pile.
