Does The F-150's Fake Engine Noise Bother You?

while I think the fake sound is an absurd idea it wouldn't deter me from buying an ecoboost.....if I NEEDED the towing abilities of the ecoboost that's what I`d get otherwise the 5.0 is more than adequate.....don't let the fake sound turn you off altogether.........but really if they have to have fake sound they should give multiple to choose from like one day you could have semi truck diesel sound the next you could have fighter jet engine sound or possibly top fuel dragster sound......your welcome Ford for this brilliant idea

From my perspective that is one of the cheesiest things I have ever seen Ford come up with. Engine sounds from the speakers? And people are fine with that? To each their own I guess.

I had the 2011 EB 3.5 and the engine craped out at just over 77,000. I bought the 2015 with the 3.5 EB as far as the sound, it was explained to me from Ford customer service, that the sound that is heard is the actual sound of the engine with other sound wave sent to null the tones that they did not want to hear. I wonder if I change the exhaust tone will it sound the same?

Why would you put a Dodge V8 in an F150?
Unless, of course, you're talking about buying a Ram pickup truck instead. It may have real V8 sound, but it sure doesn't tow like an EcoBoost.

Somehow, this instantly came to mind...
Fake Turbo
And all the kids in hondas spewed their money on them, to the degree that someone made a whole website just for it. This says it all:
" -You engine lasts longer than a real Exhaust Whistler or Fake Turbo"
If you're embarrassed about a turbocharged six cylinder not sounding cool enough, you have bigger issues than a gimmick like this can solve. Plus, being able to HEAR when things go wrong is kind of an important thing too...
Besides, sounding cool is what a twin turbo RX7 putting out 500hp is for

In the case of GTI the sound doesn't come from the sound system speakers. There is a speaker driver which touches the front windshield. So the windshield is the speaker. Look up "Soundaktor".
Earlier models actually had a tube coming into the cabin from the engine compartment to pipe in sound. FFS.
Personally, I hate that kind of thing so I removed it. Just find it, unbolt, unplug, throw in recycle bin, and done.
If sound comes out of the speakers on Fords I reckon you'd have to try to get your dealer to disable it since it must be a programmable thing?
Thank goodness I have an XLT or I'd have to sell my truck.

The engine sound isn't fake, it's your own engine noise being amplified through the speakers. I will be having ford turn mine off through their IDS, supposedly it's not too noticeable that it's there until you turn it off and realize how quite the cabin is afterwards. I'm pretty sure ford did this to satisfy the customers who think they need a truck to sound like or even be a v8. Those of you who are old enough will remember when trucks were made with 6 cylinders. The 3.5 ecos can pretty much do what the 250s could do back in 2000.
