general OBS questions

Like to start with:
Good day all, for anyone reading any time of the day.

I am trying to gather as much info as possible to figure out what i need for my next build (OBS excursion; 7.3l idi manual 4x4, with a bronco hard top and fifth wheel hitch) (what do ya'll think?).

Is there a such thing as a f250-f350 crew cab short bed.
Sorry, more questions will come. Just got very busy.

Thanks Boomer

There was a conversion company called Centurion that used to convert these trucks to what looks like a 4 door Bronco.

It would be a good starting point for your build if you can find one in good shape.

Here's I pic I pulled off the net

F-250 could be a short bed or long, F-250 Crew cab was short bed only and I don't think you could get a F-350 with a short if IRC.

Whicked cool site, thanks.

Okay back to business:

The 4x4s, what is the difference in a 3/4 ton and 1 ton, did both come with straight axles?
What is the general opinion on a dually version of a centurion/excursion?
If i was interested in using a goose neck, would it be better to look for a truck that has it or buy and install my own? As far as gooseneck preference, tell me the pros/cons of 3/4 ton vs 1 tons.

Ill stop there for the night, see what info comes my way. As always

Thanks for looking and any help, Boomer

The converted 4 door bronco only came in 1/2 ton and 1 ton. Only 1 tons came with solid front axle.

As for pickups, either the CCSB or CCLB would need the frame cut off and a bronco frame welded on. Bronco frame is 3/16, truck is 1/4".

What does a gooseneck matter. a bronco has a top.

As for the conversion, most were HACKED together with the seam at the roof rotting apart. As of the frame I have no clue

I do believe there were a few C250s produced. Example thread: http://www.fourdoorbronco.com/board/...whats-it-worth

In general I do agree the workmanship on the Centurions were spotty at best. If you want one plan on spending some dollars to repair the sins inflicted by the manufacturer.

They are seriously cool rides that deserve resurrecting.

I have spent time over the years researching the Centurion conversions, I am fairly confident there is a C250 in existence. Rare, yes. Worth more...no.

Let me re explain.

I am going to build my own. That is why i am asking these questions. The fact that it has a bronco top is exactly why i have questions about the 5th wheel set-up. Like the title states, these are for the most part obs questions, not really about the centurions.

Thanks Boomer

But the Centurion may be a decent base for your project.

Depends on what you are after. Without meaning to, this crew cab short bed with a topper looks a little like a 4 door Bronco. Tighten up the bed to cab gaps, maybe a little colored tape to reshape the topper windows, and you'd fool most of the people. This one already gets a double-take.

The 4 dr Bronco's do look really good! There's a 6 door version in process by a gu named 'maverick' or similar.

But if you want to pull a 5th wheel with any amount of doors on a Bronco, you'd have to plug the cab end somehow.
