EBPV & EBPS are two different things. The tube your talking about is under the exhaust back pressure switch. Yes, clean it but it doesn't make a whole lot of difference in the way it runs. The other is what everybody is talking about.

You beat me Mad but I stand corrected, its a sensor not a switch.

Well I disconnected the valve and everything seems fine. How does this affect things. I live in Alaska so having the engine warm up is kinda important to me here. Does this affect the water temp?? My water temp gauge appears a little sluggish. Thanks for all the help I am new to diesels.

The engine should still warm up fine unless your thermostat is shot or missing. From what I'm hearing from everyone here (I don't even own a diesel) the valve is just an aid to warm up. I just wouldn't do more than 1/2 tach for the first 5-10 miles, especially where you live.

Diesels take quite a bit longer to warm up than gassers. If it's near or below freezing plug it in if possible.
