Check the fluid level and its condition. Whats the mileage on truck? Has the filter/fluid ever been serviced as recommended?
After verifying the fluid level and condition is ok the next step is...do you have any flashing lights on the dash? Regardless have the trans scanned for stored and current error codes. Then if its at the shop already getting scanned the next step is to do a system pressure check in all the shift ranges per the specs. Pressure is the best way to gauge a transmissions health of each of its hyd circuits.
Find a good HD truck trans shop well versed on 5R100W Torque-shifts.
