AutoEnginuity Power Balance

Has anybody successfully run a power balance test with AE?

I have yet to get one to run properly. They always show normal, even if there is a dead skip with one injector.

I sent an e-mail off to AE tech support and we will see what they say. I wonder if there is a way to turn off FICM Compensation using AE?

The only way I can see is to shut off one injector at a time but I'm not sure that would be very accurate. There is no way to shut off FICM comp. with AE.

I think at present only IDS can turn off compensation.

Nope, shutting off one injector at a time is not a power balance.

Understood, but that is as close as you can get with AE.

Will it pick up an injector that is unplugged during the test?

Hmmm

I will have to give that a shot sometime.

Here is what they have to say:

Chris,

We can’t turn off the FICM Correction at this time.

As far as the Mode$06 you need to select Generic Powertrain from the bottom of the Vehicle Selection screen, then the results can be viewed.

I know the older snap-on;geneysIII;scanXL;A&E and Matco can't turn off compensation.
Can't say about snap-on in the last 5 years tho.

The V 7.0 Snap-On could not.
I was told when they started to be able to
and can't recall it right now. I think it was
somewhere around V 10.0 I think they are
at V 12.0 or V 13.0 now.

My #8 injector is unplugged. I've been trying to explain to AE that there is a column missing in the chart but the say it's not.

Do you have a pic of it with injector 4 unplugged? I'd like to see what it shows in the middle of the firing order.

Never thought of that but makes sence...if 8's dropping out then where is it supposed to show you? Maybe they're just not motivated to fix it since we've already given them our money...although it is one of the better consumer based scan tools it's sad that one of the most useful functions really doesn't work well at all. Atleast it runs a buzz test helping to narrow down injectors that might be sticking when cold
