Need advice/help on truck doors not closing up, 1992 XLT, EXT. cab

I just installed new weatherstripping on my '92, 302, XLT, Extended cab. I've run into a problem with the both door not sealing up to the cab. I already checked the striker bushings and I've re-aligned both striker bolts, and what you see is the best I can get them to close and latch properly, as of right now.

Now, I know on the driver side, the bottom hinge pin is worn, as I can lift the door a 1/4 to 3/8th's up and down. That I can fix with a new a hing pin. I'll dremel the knurled lip off the top of the pin and drop it out the bottom. Easy fix. But what I need to know is whether or not I need to loosen the hinge door bolts, 3 on top and 3 on bottom, affixed to the cab, and shim them. I looked at Steve83s' pictures and write-ups on both FourDoorBronco.com and Supermotors.com. I'm just trying to keep from having to completely remove the fender's. Will and can it be possible to do this? It really looks like the doors just need to be shimmed to adjust for the new weatherstripping.

Any advice and help is GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thanks again!

Looks like you need new latches for your doors. Jeff's bronco graveyard has them for $55 each plus shipping.

I know that after '92, if the cable broke inside the door, then you had to get the entire door latch and cable together as Ford will no longer just sell you the cable. I broke the cable part on my other '92, and ordered the Dorman replacement with no problem.

And right now looking, $140 is the cheapest I can find anywhere for just one side. Hopefully there is another way.

Just bumping this.

Does anyone know why door latch from '91 doesn't work and any help with someone who had the exact same problem.

87-91 uses rods to actuate latch/door handle, 92-97 uses some cables.

If you guys bought after market weather stripping and not OEM, there's a good chance it's thicker or stiffer than what was originally there. LMC is famous for their Chinese after market products not fitting.
One thing you can try is to take a heat gun and heat the stripping real good and close the doors hard several time to try and smash it in and get it to seat. Once you get it seated as far as you can then let it sit as long as you can with out opening the doors, or and make sure your windows are open when you do this, because the new stripping is also causing a pressure build up inside the cab when you go to close the doors. I know some guys that have had good luck doing this and I know some that still have the problem months after they install new stripping. One other thing is to look it over real well and make sure you didn't install it wrong, I've seen a few where they actually put it on backwards.

Most of this is still available through the local dealer for about $75 per door NOT including if you have vent windows. Here's a link..
