Paid 2.92 for diesel

I paid $2.15 for the Volvo and $2.85 for the OBS....in Texas though. A good friend just told me a tax hike was passed in So Cal. A 52 cent per gallon tax for road and interstate improvement starting January 2016. Hey, I have an idea....how about we quit letting people live off of the state?
Bill, WTF? Really? What gives?

They maybe right in the demand, and you on the lies. LOL You have to remember that you get roughly 2 gallons of gasoline for every gallon of diesel from a barrel of crude. Here is a breakdown Oil Industry Statistics from Gibson Consulting - oil barrels
I consult and do not by any means favor a certain type of energy over the other. I as well was quite pissed considering everything we drive is a diesel. With oil where it is right now, its quite interesting to see all these bullshat articles why the low cost of crude is bad for the economy. Go ask any oil field developer, operator, contractor, transporter, etc of where they would like to see oil. A lot of responses will come in that 70-80 dollar range. Watching the boom first hand in the Bakken when crude is up at 100-120 a barrel it really does drive more negative implications than positives, and by orders of magnitude. I don't want to get in that off hand topic right now.
If you want to know what drives the hi cost of diesel, it is not currently demand... it is not refining costs or derivatives of production per barrel of crude. It is not the demand of gasoline either. Take a big look at federal and state tax differences per gallon for you home state. You can reference all the way back to the days when diesel was much cheaper than gasoline... and take a random guess of why that changed...you only get one guess :-)
You will likely get pissed when you see how much the government and state make off fuel.... I do.

$3.25 for diesel and $3.05 for gas here in Nor-Cal. Mind you, this isnt bay area Nor-Cal. I'm 5 hours north of there.
I actually had to take time to look at the price today so I could comment. I buy fuel or gas every day but I never look since it wont change whether or not I need to buy it...
