Which power steering fluid

I've got a Saginaw pump to put in, replacing the lines at the same time.

I've got a couple quarts of Dexron V (extra from my 04 F150 that I sold 2 years ago), it would be nice to find a home for it instead of chucking it...will it work?

Or should I use the Type F that searching seems to recommend?

The newer ATF's are not so good as PS fluid. Agree Type F is good, Dextron is good or PS fluid. I've got PS fluid in one classic and Dextron in another and both work fine.

I use Royal purple in my saginaw pump. Expensive, but She's quiet as can be.
