First time at this Forum and I've recently purchased a carbureted 1981 F150, 302, stick, 4WD.
Very impressive to take the truck onto logging roads that a Quad had trouble on and be able to LR 4WD to the top without slipping in the mud at all. Even did this with a non aggressive 31-10.50 tread up steep inclines. Kinda felt like riding in a Tank with those gears whirring.
I ran it out of gas to clear the tank and when I went to fill the front tank it was already full. The gauge indicates E so the wires must be swapped.
I think I just want to convert to a single tank. When I went to check the rear tank I noticed the cap was left off. Over pressure problem or did the prior owner not want to get out and mess with keys. Oregon, no self serve.
What is involved with simply running one tank? Which would be best- Front or rear tank?
FS.

Figured it out
I went out and messed around with things a little more.
The filler hose or whatever it's called is nearly horizontal until it goes over the frame. The truck was parked on a slight incline so fuel would not enter the hose once it had pooled against gravity. I was able to push a section of tubing all the way into the tank and then pour fuel down that and presto it flowed.
I then moved the truck to a flat position and had no trouble getting fuel into the tank. The problem with others at various stations may relate to being parked on an incline. This appears to be a CA truck but may have been modified.
