My Jeep Grand Cherokee has a great system that is easy and intuitive to use. With a little luck we'll see this in my 2016 F-350!

 

It's about time. The SYNC system in my 2011 F-150 is a POS. It's a basic system but word recognition, phone pairing, etc are ridiculous.

 

Yea word recognition is crap. If I could change 1 thing about it, it would be that.

 

I just took possession of my new 2015 truck and agree that ford sync is not great. If they replace it then I wonder if it will be possible to retro fit with something newer and better?

Also.. the REALLY annoying feature is the inability to enter locations onto the GPS from the screen while moving. This is something that my wife usually does while driving.

I wold really like to get around this. Does anyone know of a hack to get around this? Thanks!

As a LEGAL immigrant and now proud American Citizen I posses an 'English' Accent. The darn thing doesn't seem to understand English!!! :-)

 

Well it's going to get addled when you start throwing "boots" and "bonnets" and "knicker kidney pie" stuff out there. Hm.

 

From what it sounds like, the MyFordTouch will be replaced with another software. It'll still have a touch screen just a far superior software backing it

Backwards compatible with existing HW.. now wouldn't that be nice!

It's looking like sometime around 2016 or 2017 MY. Idk if backwards compatibility is an option. I'm a former Ford Salesmen but I left back in September so Im not as in the loop now.

 

The article says for 2016, is it confirmed that the super duty gets it for model year 2016? I didn't think they were making many changes for 2016 vs 2015.

 

There's some pretty good YouTube videos out there on it. It is not backwards compatible with the My Ford Touch. Completely different hardware. New compacitive screen like tablets have etc... From what I've read is that Sync 3 will be released in 2016MY vehicles, another article states "selects" vehicles but didn't day which ones. I held off buying a new 2015 F350 just incase Sync 3 was in the 2016 F350.

 

I see the term 2016MY going around regarding this topic, what exactly dies that mean? I've googled it but had no luck with what it means. I assume 2016 middle year, but still don't recognize the term.

The only reason I care is that it's a significant change in my mind, for better or worse, and not one I was aware of going into my purchase.

I need something by November when the second kids comes around, as we already have little enough room in my 2003 extended cab.
