. An ounce or two of kerosene per tank of gas should allow timing up to 34 - 36 degrees without pinging....

I will add a vac gauge. I want to see the differential in vac at idle for me between manifold and ported since I have a nasty cam.

Obviously ported is zero, but I am curious how much advance I get with manifold, and if I have idle issues without enough differential.

I'll try it, but probably not until the spring when it gets warm out.

BTW, the pinging I get beyond 32 degrees timing is only at WOT.

I wish we had E85 here; I'd switch and really crank the timing up.

. "nasty cam"? You must be talking the one in your 11 sec. Mustang... not the EconoPower cam in your 400" LTD... LOL!

. Gas is so cheap now ($1.85) that E85 prolly costs more... and loses 15-25% MPG...

There's some "blow-yer-mind" moments here. I realize it goes back a couple of years, and sifting through the snark to get to the heart of the matter will take some time...a lot of info to go through. That's why I'm bumping it to the top, to make it easier to find once once my brain straightens - out...

BTT.

Fwiw my Jeep used manifold vacuum my truck used ported the truck didn't like to idle too low the Jeep didn't seem to care if it was 400 or maybe a little lower at idle

I don't have a comparison on the same motor though and they're liable to have had other things that made the difference but that's my experience
